Titusville Police identify 2 Dead in Murder-Suicide

Titusville Police Press Release – Titusville Police are investigating the shooting deaths of two local residents that occurred at approximately 7 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2022.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a home on the 4000 block of Lakeview Hills Avenue and subsequently secured the scene.

Officers located Haley Friedel, 24, of Titusville, in the driveway inside a vehicle with apparent fatal gunshot wounds. Gregory DePietro, 32, of Titusville, was located close to the vehicle on the home’s lawn with an apparent gunshot wound.

DePietro was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 10:15 AM. 

The preliminary investigation revealed DePietro arrived at Friedel’s residence, parked his vehicle directly behind Friedel’s vehicle and approached the driver’s side of her locked vehicle. He then fired multiple gunshots into the driver’s side window striking Friedel multiple times, then immediately turned the gun on himself and fired.

DePietro and Friedel were known to each other.

This incident remains an ongoing investigation by the Titusville Police Department and more details will be released upon its conclusion.


The Seminole County Fire Department said Friday morning DePietro was a firefighter with the department since 2018.

The Seminole County Fire Department released a statement Friday morning on the fatal shooting.

“Firefighter Greg DePietro was hired on October 1, 2018 and served on one of our specialized teams that is focused on hazardous materials and technical rescue. DePietro was in good standing with the Department during his tenure here. This is a tragic and devastating loss for the family of Haley Friedel and the family of Greg DePietro. All the men and women in our Fire Department mourn the losses of these two individuals during this difficult time. Since this is an ongoing investigation, we are respecting the privacy of the families and must defer any further comment or information on this case to the Titusville Police Department.”
